Strategic Single Session Consultation for Focused Concerns
What is the Strategic Single Session Consultation
Not every challenge needs long‑term therapy. Sometimes what’s most effective is a structured, purposeful conversation with an experienced clinician about one specific issue, decision, or situation. Our Strategic Single Session Consultation provides intentional, in‑depth support designed to create meaningful progress in one to three sessions.
We treat each meeting as complete. Your first 90‑minute session is built to deliver clarity, insight, and direction. Future sessions are available, but never assumed. This is not “therapy light,” but a distinct, evidence‑informed approach that recognizes meaningful change often happens sooner than traditional models assume.
Is the Strategic Single Session Consultation right for you?
This service is designed for people who want focused, expert help without committing to ongoing weekly therapy. It may be a strong fit if you’re navigating:
- A difficult decision or life crossroads
- A specific stressor, conflict, or situation
- A major transition or life change
- A recurring stuck pattern you’re ready to shift
- Parenting or co‑parenting challenges
- Follow‑up support after previous therapy
- Preparation for a hard conversation, event, or milestone
- Leadership, workplace, or professional challenges
- A need for clarity, perspective, or a concrete action plan
It may not be the best fit if you are in an active crisis, struggling with thoughts of self‑harm, seeking care for complex trauma that needs ongoing treatment, or wanting longer‑term exploratory work. If you’re unsure, we’ll help you decide whether this service, traditional therapy, or another program is the best match.

FAQs
What if I realize I need more than one session?
That’s very common. This service allows for up to three sessions, and you can decide as you go. If ongoing therapy becomes the better fit, we’ll help you transition—either with the same clinician (when possible), another MCA therapist, or a provider in the community.
How is this different from traditional therapy?
Traditional therapy usually involves weekly sessions over a longer period with broad, ongoing goals. Strategic Single Session Consultation focuses on one clearly defined concern and targeted problem‑solving to create meaningful movement in a shorter span.
Can I do this if I’m already in therapy?
Yes. A Strategic Single Session Consultation can complement your current therapy by offering a fresh lens or specialized input on a specific issue. We do encourage you to talk with your therapist first about what you’re seeking, and we’re happy to collaborate with them if that’s useful.
Can couples or parents attend together?
Yes. Couples and co‑parents are welcome when the focus is a shared concern, decision, or conflict. We also offer individual parent consultations if you’d rather focus on how you’re supporting your child or teen.
Is this appropriate for my teen or young adult?
Often, yes. We offer strategic sessions for teens and young adults around specific challenges, as well as parent‑focused consultations to help you support them through a difficult situation.
What if my situation is more serious than I thought?
If we determine that you would be better served by ongoing therapy, our Ascend IOP, or a higher level of care, we’ll discuss that directly and help connect you with appropriate support.
Will I leave with something concrete?
Yes. Our goal is that you leave with clear insight, specific next steps, and practical tools or frameworks so you’re not wondering what to do after the session.
What is the cost and will my insurance cover the meeting?
The fee for a 90‑minute consultation is $450. This includes review of your intake and initial planning of skills and strategies before we meet. MCA is an out of network provider, However, you will receive a superbill after the consultation with the appropriate CPT code you need to submit for out of network reimbursement.
