Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Group
DBT is an evidence-based treatment created by Marsha Linehan. It helps people manage overwhelming emotions and improve relationships through a balance of acceptance and change.
DBT is taught through four core modules:
- Mindfulness – learning to stay present and aware in the current moment.
- Emotion Regulation – identifying, labeling, and managing intense feelings without being destructive or reactive.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness – expressing needs clearly, setting boundaries, and strengthening important relationships.
- Distress Tolerance – building skills to accept and cope with painful realities instead of avoiding or escaping them.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Exposure Therapy
CBT helps clients recognize and change automatic negative thoughts and unhelpful beliefs. By shifting these patterns, clients reduce problem emotions and behaviors and learn healthier ways to respond to challenges.
